The Sacrament of Baptism 

Brief summary of the steps involved:

• Determine which parish you are living in.
• If not attending, begin to attend on Sundays and introduce yourselves.
• Request a form from the office to register as parishioners, by emailing us at corpuschristito@archtoronto.org.
• After demonstrating commitment to Sunday worship for a few weeks, request a petition for the Sacrament of Baptism.
• Have an interview with the pastor or deacon soon after the petition is received.
• Once you are eligible, request a spot in one of the available monthly baptism celebrations (usually 3rd Sundays of the month and the baptismal preparation course on the 1st Sunday of the month).
• Ensure all forms required are provided to the office.

To prepare for the baptism of your child, a demonstrated commitment to the Catholic faith is a necessary prerequisite. 

Baptism is offered for families who live within the parish boundaries, or have a long-standing record of attendance at Corpus Christi Parish.  If you do not live within the parish boundaries, a demonstrated commitment to attending Sunday Mass at the parish will first have to be established.  After seeing you at Sunday Mass for a few months, you can register as a parishioner and be eligible for sacramental celebrations.  (If you do not live in the parish boundaries and have not attended, we will help you identify the parish in which you reside.)

Once you have shown your commitment to Sunday worship, you can contact the office for a registration form and a petition for the Sacrament of Baptism. 

Long-standing registered parishioners can request the Petition at any time.

An interview will be arranged with the priest or deacon.  The appropriate documents will need to be provided.  For these reasons, it will be at least six weeks from the time of your petition for the sacrament and the actual baptism.  (If you are not registered, you must factor in the time you will be demonstrating your willingness to attend Sunday Mass before the petition for baptism can be provided to you.)
