Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, friends,  

I have appreciated being the pastor at Corpus Christi Parish, but will be moving to assist at Blessed Sacrament Parish at the end of June. Father Faustino Kusoka will be the new administrator. Please welcome him cordially. 

I thank you for your kindness, and if I have offended anyone, I ask for forgiveness.

Message to Parishioners at Corpus Christi Parish

I regret to announce that Cardinal Thomas Collins has decided to transfer Fr. Marijan Sisko from Corpus Christi Parish.     I say that I "regret" having to make the announcement since the parish has undergone a rapid succession of pastors in the last few years.  As a former pastor myself, I am aware of how clergy changes can be most unsettling for parishioners. However, Fr, Marijan is transferred to assist at Blessed Sacrament Church in Toronto, effective July 1st, 2021.

I wish to express my gratitude to Fr. Marijan not only for his service at Corpus Christi, but also for his constant witness to fidelity, prayer, devotion and the Holy Eucharist.  We wish him well in his new appointment and offer him the support of our prayers.

At the same time, I wish to announce the appointment of Fr. Faustino Kusoka, presently the Administrator of Santa Cruz Parish in Toronto, to the position of Administrator of Corpus Christi Parish.  His current parishioners are grieving his loss.  I invite you to offer a warm welcome to Fr. Faustino to his new home, as I know you will. 

You have noticed that I have used the word "administrator" not "pastor."  Why is that?  Some people might suggest that the term implies a short-term or temporary appointment.  Others may think that an "administrator" suggests a position somewhat lower than that of a full pastor.  Neither interpretation is correct.

 From the point of view of parishioners, there is no difference between the two terms.  In all respects Fr. Faustino will minister to you fully as your pastor.  The word "administrator" is a technical term according to canon law (church laws governing the whole church).  Fr. Faustino has been in Canada for approximately 10 years, but he is still legally connected to, and incorporated in (called incardinated) his home diocese, the Diocese of Huambo, Angola.  He has not yet made the change in his canonical status to constitute himself as an incorporated (incardinated) priest of the Archdiocese of Toronto.  Since he
"officially" but not "practically" belongs to another diocese, by canon law, he cannot be named a "pastor" in this diocese.  So it is a technical term, not a term affecting his pastoral work among the Corpus Christi parishioners.
